Lokobe Reserve
Immersion in the primary forest
Lokobe is the last protected primary forest in Nosy Be, home to a wide variety of medicinal and endemic plants of Madagascar, as well as ancient trees.
This forest, a haven for many scientists, will allow you to discover a dense expanse of tropical rainforest. Like an initiation rite, let yourself be guided through this preserved world in search of nocturnal and diurnal lemurs (Macaco and Lepilemur), reptiles, chameleons, insects, and tropical birds.
A land transfer will take you to the fishing village of Ambatozavavy in the south of the island, where you will board a traditional dugout canoe. You will paddle along the mangroves to reach the eastern reserve of Lokobe.
You’ve arrived! Your guide (a specialist in local wildlife and flora) will invite you to discover the living treasures of his reserve and will warmly share his secrets and legends with you during a walk of about 2.5 hours.
